Summarize your show for us

Making the tech world a better, more inclusive space.

Why do listeners subscribe to your podcast?

Allie Nimmons and I discuss the hard stuff about underrepresentation in WordPress and the greater tech community. People learn things they didn't know, and (hopefully) begin to make their part of the community more inclusive.

What makes your approach to podcasting different from others?

We seldom edit anything. What you hear/see is how it went down. Nothing is scripted. We seldom discuss anything in advance except the main topic. Then we discuss is within 30 minutes or less. And we're not afraid to talk about the hard stuff.

What do you hope listeners gains from listening to your show?

I hope that listeners are learning how to be more inclusive of all underrepresented persons and make the tech space not only diverse, but embracing of diversity and how inclusion make everything better for everyone.

What does your podcast legacy look like?

Between all of the podcasts I've created or been involved in (WPCoffeeTalk, Underrepresented in Tech, WPMotivate, and This Week in WordPress), my legacy should be one of kindness, inclusion, and how to make the tech community a better place.

What's the best piece of advice you have for other podcasters?

Just do it. Start with what you have. Then as you find your way, invest in better tech, hosting, software, marketing, etc. If you wait until everything is "perfect" you will miss the opportunity to be great now.

What makes your podcast setup work for you?

The most important thing for me with my setup is a comfortable chair and a good cup of coffee.
